Downloading or Deleting Your CordLine Data

This article covers downloading a copy of your CordLine data, how long we keep different kinds of information, and what deleting your account does and doesn't remove.

Downloading a copy of your data

You can download a copy of your data from your account settings at any time, without asking us — it comes as a file. If you run a ministry, it includes your ministry's content as well as your own.

⚠️ The export is a spreadsheet of your information, not your photos and videos. It's a file containing your profile details, posts, messages, and similar records as data — the words, not the pictures. If you want to keep copies of specific photos or videos, save them from your device or wherever you originally shared them before you delete anything; the export won't include them.

How long we keep information

Most things are kept for as long as your account is open, and different kinds of information have different rules after that:

• Cleared automatically on a routine schedule: notifications, records of which posts you've viewed, activity records used to build your feed, and delivery records for email and text messages. These are useful for a limited window and then they're not.
• Removed when you remove them: photos and videos you delete are removed from storage. If you use the face-blurring tool, the original unblurred version is removed once the blurred one exists.
• Kept for safety and accountability: reports, our record of what we did about them, and the record of any content our staff removed. These don't have a set expiry, because they're how we answer a later question about a decision we made.
• Kept without a set expiry today: Phoebe drafts you never used or dismissed, and your conversation history with Phoebe. We'd rather tell you that plainly than imply an expiry that doesn't exist.

What happens when you delete your account

Deleting your account erases your personal details — name, email, phone number, profile photo, and display name — so what's left can't be traced back to you.

⚠️ That's different from your account being erased entirely. CordLine is a shared space: a post you commented on, a conversation you had with a missionary — those are part of someone else's record too. Rather than tear a hole in someone else's history, we keep that content and take your name off it. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to see, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your information, and to object to some of how we use it. Reach out to us and we'll respond within the time the law allows — we won't treat you differently for asking.
