How to Send a Prayer Request
This article covers how to share a prayer request so your supporters can pray alongside you.
Sharing a prayer request
- Tap New post.
- Choose Prayer Request as the post type.
- Write what you'd like prayer for — be as specific or as general as you're comfortable.
- Add a photo if it helps tell the story.
- Tap Post.
Your request is clearly labeled as a prayer request, so supporters know to lift it up rather than simply read past it.
How supporters respond
When you share a prayer request, supporters can let you know they're praying. That quiet tap of support means a lot on a hard day — you'll be able to see who's standing with you.
Supporters can also leave a comment with a word of encouragement or a promise to pray, and you can reply right back.
Writing a prayer request that connects
- Be honest. Supporters want to carry the real thing with you, not a tidy version.
- Be specific where you can. "Pray for our visa appointment on Thursday" is easier to pray than "pray for us."
- Follow up. When a prayer is answered, share a Praise Report so your supporters can celebrate with you.
A note on sensitive requests
If a request involves names, locations, or situations that could put someone at risk, share carefully. You can keep details general, or send the request to a smaller, trusted group of supporters — see our article on posting to a specific group.
