Using CordLine on the Web, Phone, and Multiple Devices
This article explains what's shared across devices, what differs between the app and the browser, and what to expect on a slow connection.
What's shared everywhere
Your account, posts, connections, and messages are the same no matter where you sign in — the app and the website both talk to the same CordLine behind the scenes. There's nothing to sync manually.
What's different on the web
- No push notifications. Push alerts are a mobile app feature. On the web, you'll rely on email, text, and in-app notifications instead — see our article on managing your notification preferences.
- No biometric unlock. Face ID and fingerprint unlock are mobile-only.
- No video uploads. You can add photos to a post on the website, but videos can only be added from the mobile app.
Everything else — posting, messaging, reactions, Phoebe — works the same on both.
Using more than one device
You can be signed in on your phone, a tablet, and a browser all at once. Turn on notifications separately on each device you want to hear from, since that setting is per device, not per account.
On a slow or unreliable connection
CordLine needs a connection to post, load your feed, or send a message — there's no offline mode for creating content. Photo and video uploads are the most affected by a weak connection; text loads faster than media. If something seems stuck, check your connection before assuming something's broken.
Tips
- The app is generally the more complete experience on a phone — biometric unlock and push notifications are both mobile-only.
- The website is a good fallback if you're on a device without the app installed, or troubleshooting something that seems app-specific.
