Finding and Following a Missionary

This article covers how to search for a missionary or organization on CordLine, what happens when you follow them, and why a connection isn't always instant.

Searching with Discover

1. Open Discover from the menu.
2. Type a name, ministry, location, or a phrase that describes who you're looking for.
3. Tap a result to see their profile before you follow.

If you can't find someone, double-check the spelling of their name or ministry, or try a broader search term. Some ministries choose not to be listed in Discover at all — if that's the case, you'll need a personal invite link from them directly instead.

What happens when you follow

⚠️ Following an organization connects you immediately — there's no approval step. The moment you tap follow on an organization in Discover, you're connected and their updates start appearing in your feed right away.

Following a missionary works a little differently. Most missionaries connect instantly too. Some review each new supporter before they can see updates. If that's the case, you'll see your request marked as pending, and you'll be connected once they approve it. If your request is declined

A missionary may decline a connection request without giving a reason — this is often simply a matter of not recognizing the name. If you believe there's been a mix-up, try reaching out to them another way to reintroduce yourself.

What you'll see once you're connected

Your feed fills in with their recent posts. New supporters generally start caught up rather than needing to scroll through months of history — missionaries' older posts (further back than about six months) and organizations' (further back than about a year) are already marked as read when you join, so your feed opens to what's recent rather than a long backlog.

Muting versus unfollowing

• Muting quiets someone's updates without ending the connection — their posts stop appearing in your feed, but you're still following them, and you can turn their updates back on any time.
• Unfollowing ends the connection entirely. You'll need to follow them again to see future updates.

Use muting if you just want a quieter feed for a while; unfollow if you no longer want to be connected at all.

Tips

• Explore before you follow — a ministry's profile shows you who they are and what they share, so you can decide if it's a good fit.
• It's okay to be selective. Following fewer ministries closely often means more meaningful engagement than following many at a distance.
