# Understanding Your Privacy & Security Tiers

This article explains what each privacy and security tier controls, including what you give up at the highest tier.

## Privacy is a choice, not a setting you forget

CordLine is used by missionaries in every kind of situation — from those who share openly to those serving where privacy protects lives. Your tier lets you match CordLine to your reality.

## What your tier controls

Your tier affects several things at once:

- **Discoverability** — whether new supporters can find your ministry on their own, or only through a link you share.
- **Connection** — whether people can follow you instantly, or need your approval first.
- **Sign-in protection** — whether two-factor authentication is required for everyone on the account.
- **What's visible to supporters** — your sending organization, your family details, your milestones, your bio, and your giving link.
- **Phoebe, CordLine's AI assistant** — available at Standard and Enhanced Privacy. **Turned off entirely at High Security.**

## The three tiers

- **Standard** — Full features. You're easy to find and follow, your organization and family details are visible if you choose to add them, and Phoebe is available to help you write. The right fit for most missionaries.
- **Enhanced Privacy** — Phoebe is still available, but you're less publicly visible: new supporters need your approval before connecting, and your organization and family details are hidden from supporters even if you've filled them in. Your bio and giving link still show.
- **High Security** — The strongest protection, built for sensitive contexts. Two-factor authentication is required for everyone on the account, new supporters always need your approval, and your ministry is not discoverable in search — people can only connect through a link you share directly. ⚠️ **Phoebe is turned off completely at this tier** — no AI drafting help, no AI photo editing, no AI summaries. Your bio and giving link are also hidden from supporters. This is a real tradeoff: choose High Security for the protection, but know you're writing every update yourself.

## Choosing and changing your tier

You can set your tier during setup and change it later in your settings. If your situation changes — a move, a shift in your work, a new season of ministry — revisit your tier to make sure it still fits. Moving to High Security requires two-factor authentication to already be set up — see our article on setting up two-factor authentication before you switch.
