# Getting Started as a Supporter

This article walks you through following your first missionary and finding your way around CordLine as a supporter.

## What a supporter account is

As a supporter, you follow missionaries and organizations to see their updates, pray for them, and cheer them on. You don't post updates yourself — your account is built for reading, praying, and encouraging.

## Connecting with your first missionary

Most supporters arrive through a link a missionary shares with them.

1. Open the link a missionary sent you — by text, email, or a QR code.
2. If you don't have an account yet, sign up with your email address or your Google account.
3. Once you're signed in, you'll see a screen to follow that missionary.

If someone invited you but you're not sure where the link went, ask them to resend it, or search for their ministry directly — see our article on finding and following a missionary.

## Approval isn't always instant

For most missionaries, following them connects you right away. Some missionaries review each new supporter before they can see updates. If that's the case, you'll see a message that your request is pending, and you'll be connected as soon as they approve it.

## Choosing your account type

When you sign up, you'll be asked whether you're a supporter, a missionary, or an organization. Choose **Supporter** if you're here to follow and encourage — you can always add a missionary or organization account later without losing this one. ## What you'll see once you're connected

- **A feed** of updates from everyone you follow, newest first.
- **A welcome post**, if the missionary has one, introducing their ministry.
- **Ways to respond** — you can pray, react, and leave comments on what they share.

## A few tips for getting started

- **Follow a few people to start.** Your feed comes alive once you're connected to at least one or two missionaries or organizations.
- **Turn on notifications** so you don't miss an update — see our article on setting up push notifications.
