# Choosing the Right CordLine Account Type

This article explains the three CordLine account types, how to hold more than one, and what to do if you picked the wrong one when signing up.

## The three account types

- **Missionary** — for sharing field updates, prayer requests, and praise reports with your supporters.
- **Organization** — for organizations sharing updates the same way a missionary does, with a few features suited to organizations rather than individuals.
- **Supporter** — for following and encouraging missionaries and organizations. Supporters don't post their own updates.

You're asked to choose one when you sign up.

## Holding more than one account

Plenty of people are both — a missionary who also wants to follow other missionaries, for example. CordLine handles this with **separate, linked accounts** rather than one account trying to do both jobs. You can add a second account from your account menu and switch between them at any time; your sign-in stays the same, but each account keeps its own role, its own feed, and its own settings.

## If you chose the wrong type when signing up

If you're not sure yet whether you're signing up as a missionary, an organization, or a supporter, CordLine asks you to choose during sign-up rather than guessing — you won't be silently defaulted into the wrong one. If you already picked the wrong type, add the correct account type from your account menu rather than trying to change your existing account's role — your original account stays as it is, and you can switch to whichever one you actually meant to use.

The one exception is arriving through an invite link: following that link connects you as a supporter automatically, since that's what the link is for.

## Tips

- **Not sure? Start as a supporter.** You can always add a missionary or organization account later without losing anything.
- **Each account is separate.** Posts, follows, and settings on one account don't carry over to another — switching accounts is like stepping into a different, purpose-built version of CordLine.
